Used by both Greeks and Romans, it's not surprising that the use of this simple authentic gardening tool has carried on throughout the ages.

A traditional potting shed essential. This terracotta thumb pot waterer is ideal for watering delicate plants, shoots and seedlings.

Simply immerse the thumb waterer into your rain butt or a pail of water, until you're sure the waterer has filled up. Pull out of the water, keeping your thumb over the top hole.

When ready to give thirsty seedlings a gentle drink, take your thumb off of the hole to let the water ever so gently flow of its own accord.

By placing your thumb back over the hole you can stop the flow on demand. a favourite with children and adults alike.
