Our History and Roots

Nutscene® has been involved in the manufacturing and processing of jute twines and ancillary products for the gardener since 1922. The company patented the first "pull from centre spool" of garden twine, which has been copied by many but never equalled. Our name is derived from our world renowned green twine which, when tied around the plant cannot be seen, thus "Not Seen".

From our origins within the jute industry in Dundee, Scotland - the home of "Jute, Jam and Journalism", our 'Heritage Range' was conceived and developed. Utilising natural materials and fibres, the range reintroduced jute as an on-trend and ecofriendly material. This range has been in partnership with a number of British craftsmen and women, thus supporting a network of rural business throughout the UK.

Here at Nutscene we pride ourselves in that we still manufacture our own twines using traditional methods and the original machinery.

To the future

From our small beginnings in Dundee, Nutscene has grown significantly through support from our customers worldwide.
